After Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild, Canucks fans could use some positive news going into their next road game against the Nashville Predators.
That good news has come in the form of team Captain Quinn Hughes. The star defenceman has rejoined his teammates in Nashville. Hughes was on the ice for the team’s practice on Sunday.
Well, well, well, look Hughes it is.

Hughes is expected to play Monday
Nashville is the last stop on the Canucks’ current three-game road trip. The team secured a 4-3 shootout victory in St. Louis over the Blues on Thursday before dropping yesterday’s game in Minnesota.
Making the trip to Nashville all but guarantees Hughes will return to the Canucks lineup tomorrow. If there was any doubt, it would have made much more sense to stay in Vancouver until the team returns for their upcoming homestand.
Hughes was added to the Canucks’ ever-growing list of injured players when he suffered a lower-body injury in Vancouver’s game against the Montreal Canadiens on October 25th, a 4-3 loss. He has missed the team’s last four games, yet the Canucks have managed to go 2-2-0 in his absence.
Despite missing four games, Highes still leads all Vancouver defencemen with 7 points. The Canucks are currently in 6th place in the Pacific Division with a 6-7-0 record. Despite that, they are just 3 points back of the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers. If the team hopes to keep pace for a potential postseason berth, their superstar Captain will be a key factor.
Also, fans can get back to watching him produce unreal highlights, like the one seen below.

Final thoughts
The team’s success or failure this season will play a key role in whether Hughes is willing to remain in Vancouver beyond next season or if he will want to go elsewhere. If the Canucks hope to have any chance of extending their Captain, the on-ice results must improve from last season, where they missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.
For now, fans have reason for optimism as Hughes returns to the lineup. Hopefully he is the first of several injured Canucks that can get back on the ice in the next couple of weeks. The team is still without Conor Garland, Teddy Blueger, and Filip Chytil, among others.
The Canucks face the Predators on Monday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 PM Eastern, 5:30 Pacific Time.
