Canucks lines vs Blues: Expected lineups and goalies
The Vancouver Canucks (4-2-0) will play their seventh game of the season when they host the St. Louis Blues (3-2-1) at Rogers Arena for a 7 p.m. PST matchup. Thatcher Demko will start against the Blues, while Casey DeSmith takes the reigns tomorrow against the New York Rangers. The lineup will more or less remain the same, at any rate.
Canucks lines vs Blues, Oct. 27
Phillip Di Giuseppe – J.T. Miller – Brock Boeser
Andrei Kuzmenko – Elias Pettersson – Ilya Mikheyev
Dakota Joshua – Pius Suter – Conor Garland
Nils Hoglander – Sam Lafferty – Anthony Beauvillier
Canucks defense:
Quinn Hughes – Filip Hronek
Ian Cole – Mark Friedman
Carson Soucy – Tyler Myers
Canucks goaltending:
Demko will make his fifth start of the season, and the backup DeSmith will play the second leg of the back-to-back tomorrow against the Rangers.
Notes:
- Ilya Mikheyev was medically cleared to play in both legs of the back-to-back, per Thomas Drance.
- Mikheyev will have his minutes managed, however, and will not play on the penalty kill.
- Anthony Beauvillier’s extended demotion continues.
- The best defensive pairing in the NHL returns.
- Nils Hoglander has clearly established himself in this lineup, thanks in large part to his effort and willingness to play his role.
- Teddy Blueger did not skate today.
Blues lines (proj.)
Blues forwards:
Brandon Saad – Robert Thomas – Jordan Kyrou
Pavel Buchnevich – Brayden Schenn – Kasperi Kapanen
Jakub Vrana – Kevin Hayes – Sammy Blais
Alexey Toropchenko – Oskar Sundqvist – Jake Neighbours
Blues defense:
Torey Krug – Justin Faulk
Nick Leddy – Colton Parayko
Marco Scandella – Robert Bortuzzo
Blues goaltending:
Jordan Binnington OR Joel Hofer
*Note: The Blues went 11/7 in their last game, with Jakub Vrana coming out for Scott Perunovich. In this case, Toropchenko will likely move up with another forward double-shifting on the fourth line.
