Vancouver Canucks: Don’t give up on your team now
It has been rough the last few years to be a Vancouver Canucks fan, but it is important not to give up faith in the team.
Have you ever had a disagreement with someone in your life? Whether that be with a parent, friend, or a significant other?
Things get so bad that you break ties, and ignore each other. Then after a while things get better and you come back together again. While making up in itself is great, what is unfortunate is that the time lost in between could have been shared for all sorts of fun.
This is exactly what is going on between the Vancouver Canucks organization and its fans.
With the recent direction (or lack thereof as some would argue) the team is heading in, there is a mass exodus from the fan base. People are professing left, right and center about how they are no longer interested in following the team. They are done; just too frustrated with the losing or the moves made by general manager Jim Benning.

While it is important to voice your concerns, giving up on the team should not be an option.
Some of our fondest memories as Canucks fans are seeing some of the greatest players in our near 50 year history emerge from the ashes of lost seasons.
Markus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi didn’t exactly join the team when everything was all “hunky dory“.
The Sedins were added to the team in some of the darkest days of this franchise.
My point is that if you leave now, your going to miss out on the journey of the next Canuck greats. After all, when you are at the bottom the only direction you can go is up – agree?
Bo Horvat came from the tire fire that was the Roberto Luongo – Cory Schneider fiasco. He shows the same great all round ability and leadership as a young Patrice Bergeron, and will be the Canucks future captain.
Brock Boeser has shown a caliber of shot not seen in these parts since the days of Markus Naslund. At the trajectory he is on now, he will no doubt emerge as the greatest goal scorer in Canucks history.
Elias Pettersson just recently broke the record for most points in a season by a junior player. Some of the names he beat out for the honour include Peter Forsberg, Markus Naslund, the Sedins, and many more Swedish hockey greats. This is a calibre of player that could lead the NHL in scoring down the road.
Can you even imagine the friendly goal scoring battle between Brock and Elias down the road? Pure 100% entertainment!
Whoever the Canucks land up taking in the 2018 draft is going to be an exciting core piece on this team for a long time. I can go on about all the other prospects the Canucks having stellar seasons, but I’ll leave that to prospect guru Scott Rosenhek.
So is this the time to bail – really? Is being a bandwagoner better than being a true fan? Can you look yourself in the mirror down the road and say to yourself “ I was there through the good times and the bad”.

Give it a thought and if you still want to bail, so be it. As for me, the sheer thrill of watching my Canucks rise out of the basement is the ultimate high – and so I remain a true fan! Will you?
