Is the recently acquired Lukas Reichel on his way out?

Reports are surfacing that the Canucks could be ready to move on from the forward.

Less than one month after the Canucks acquired forward Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks, the forward found himself watching the game from the press box as he was scratched by the Canucks.

After making his Canucks debut in the heap of a severely injured Canucks lineup, Reichel was seeing in the neighbourhood of 15 minutes per game, and filling a role at the centre position where the Canucks were and still are extremely thin.

But over the past five games he has played, Reichel has failed to play more than 12:18 in a game, and was scratched for the team's most recent game. The former first-round pick produced just one assist in 13 games with the Canucks, including just nine shots on goal while only winning 40% of his face-offs.

The gamble itself on a former 17th overall pick in exchange for a future fourth-round pick is well founded, but the production from the 23-year old forward was essentially nonexistent and one has to believe the Canucks have seen enough.

Perhaps the recent acquisition of centre David Kämpf as well as more clarity as provided from Adam Foote regarding the Canucks barrage of injuries is what makes the team feel more comfortable in leaving Reichel in the press box for now, but ultimately this does not address their weakness up the middle.

I am sure if Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin had the option to swap Reichel for the fourth-round pick price he paid, he would do so, but his value appears to be at an all-time low and we will soon find out if Reichel will remain a Canuck or find himself elsewhere.
