It's been a busy 24 hours for the Canucks brass on the prospect front. The team has locked up both of its first two picks in the 2025 NHL draft to entry-level contracts. The Canucks announced they have come to an agreement with goalie Aleksei Medvedev on a three-year entry-level contract late Thursday afternoon. This signing comes a day after the team announced a similar entry-level contract with first-round pick Braedan Cootes.

Medvedev will join a solid depth chart of Canucks goaltenders, which begs the question, what's next for the 17 year old goalie? The most likely destination for Medvedev would be back to the London Knights, where he led the team to an OHL championship with a 22-8-2 record.
In a news release, Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Alvin praised Medvedev's performance at development camp, and said the team looks forward to helping him develop into a solid pro.
Given the team's goaltending depth at both the NHL and AHL levels, the best thing for Medvedev's development would be spending the next season with the Knights. Still, it's possible Medvedev makes his way up to the Abbotsford Canucks for the 2026-2027 season, especially if a trade involving Arturs Silovs solidifies itself.
