The Canucks began day 2 of the NHL draft by selecting Goaltender Aleksei Medvedev from the London Knights of the OHL with the 47th overall pick.

Medvedev, who put up a 22-8-2 record with the London Knights last season, was the 4th goalie drafted in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

While it's never bad to have a surplus of goalies, the pick is a bit of a head-scratcher. Nothing against the player himself, the Canucks are clearly very high on him, but it makes you wonder if a move involving recent AHL playoffs MVP Artur Silovs could be in the works.

Silovs name has been involved in rumor's lately due to the news that the Canucks are expected to announce a long-term deal with Thatcher Demko, giving the Canucks two NHL goaltenders locked down long-term.

As the Canucks continue their search for a top 6 center, it's becoming more and more likely that Silovs could be a valuable asset in any trade.
