3. Nils Höglander had a strong game

Nils Höglander has been one of the hardest working Canucks so far this season.

As pointed out by Canucks Army’s Stephan Roget, the Swedish winger has been one of the Canucks best defensive forwards and his numbers have been very good.

However, he hasn’t scored a goal all season but that changed on Friday.

Höglander scored the goal that temporarily gave the Canucks the lead. He took a page out of Brock Boeser’s book by dangling around Saros.

“He had a good game,” said Green on Höglander. “Hogs’ been playing well all year. He hasn’t got rewarded. I thought that line was strong tonight. That was a hard-fought game, both teams were battling hard, and it came down to special teams.”

Höglander showed energy, speed, and tenacity. He was also effective on the forecheck.

He has been one of the most consistent Canucks all season.

Other Notes

  • As per usual, Thatcher Demko had a strong game making 25 saves on 28 shots
  • Vasily Podkolzin got over ten minutes of ice time and he could have tied the game up but was robbed by Saros.
  • Tucker Poolman didn’t look good. He wasn’t handling the puck well, turning the puck over and going way too deep in the offensive zone which led to odd-man rushes.
