The Vancouver Canucks will be looking to rebound following a disappointing 3-2 home opener defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Wild.

Vancouver (3-3-1), hosts the Philadelphia Flyers (2-1-1) on Thursday night at Rogers Arena, playing the second game of their seven game home stand.

The Flyers come to town on the second night of a back-to-back after playing the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, and will be looking to extract revenge after the Canucks beat them merely two weeks ago in their season opener, a 5-4 (SO) victory.

Whilst the lineups and starting goalies are obviously yet to be confirmed, Vancouver expects to have starter Thatcher Demko in between the pipes, while the Flyers will send out backup goaltender Martin Jones after starter Carter Hart gets the game in Edmonton.

Flyers vs. Canucks: Predictions

Nothing is assured in sports, especially the NHL, however I expect Vancouver to score a bundle of goals and win with relative comfort on Thursday night. After losing to the Wild in the home opener, Vancouver will refuse to lose two in a row in front of the home faithful to begin their home stand.

Following their early season victory in Philadelphia, the men in blue will have lots of faith in their ability to beat the Flyers once again, and should have the extra advantage this time given the Flyers are the ones who will be playing on the second half of a back-to-back.

Flyers expected starter Martin Jones has been one of the worst goalies in hockey over the last few years (he has had an exact .896 SV% in each of his last three seasons) and the fact that Philadelphia averages 16 minutes of penalties each night should allow the Canucks to pepper the back of the net in a resounding victory.

Pick: Canucks ML -115 & Canucks over 3.0 goals -120
