The Vancouver Canucks have reached the conclusion of training camp and preseason, and their preparations for the upcoming 2021-22 NHL regular season are well underway. With the regular season opener against the Edmonton Oilers just a day away, the excitement within the Canucks fanbase is palpable.

As the regular season dawns nearer, each fanbase is tickled with optimism as they begin to look forward towards to what their team’s season has in store. Whilst this certainly applies to the Canucks and their fanbase, Vancouver is a bit of a wildcard in terms of what they could achieve by the time the business end of the season arrives. Is this team a legit playoff contender and threat in the Western Conference? Or are they a bottom-feeder like they were in the 2021 edition of the All-Canadian North Division? Only time will tell what the 2021-22 season has in store for the Canucks.

In this piece we’ll take the optimistic route and examine three keys to the Canucks season if they are to live up to their high potential and become contenders in the Pacific Division.
