Brock Boeser is back on top of the world.

The Vancouver Canucks are 11 games into the 2021 NHL season and their star right-winger is leading all players in goals. The 23-year-old Burnsville, Minnesota native can’t seem to miss the net right now. Boeser’s eight goals already mark the halfway point of his 2019-20 total (16), and the best part about it is that he’s finding new ways to go about scoring his goals.

In the Canucks’ past two games, Boeser has scored twice both times and every goal was different than the last. He’s been able to score off the rush, he’s found success in his new role down low on the power play, and he’s been the Lotto Line’s most effective player — possibly the best Canuck on the roster actually. But you wouldn’t hear him take all the credit after the team’s big win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. Check out his goal and read what he has to say about it below.

“Oh no. Eagle shocked the whole rink I think. He made a tremendous pass there. I think everyone thought that he was going to bump it to Millsy behind the net. He did the old eagle there and kind of looked off Millsy and passed it right to me right in the front so it was a phenomenal pass by him.”

Boeser is nice enough not to gloat in the spotlight, but clearly, Boeser is feeling confident about his game right now and he should. It’s no easy job to be in the position he’s in, especially with the unfortunate injuries that have held him back ever since his dominating rookie season was cut short.

“I think my shot is feeling really good. Obviously, there have been issues with injuries in the past but I’ve been feeling good and I’ve been really focusing on staying healthy and feeling good on the ice and I think it’s showing and I’m feeling confident out there and I feel like I’m moving well.”

The shot that gives goalies nightmares has returned

With no small thanks to Boeser’s recent play, the Canucks are currently riding a four-game win streak and have given a 180-degree spin on the narrative of what was supposedly already a lost season for Vancouver.

Boeser’s done an excellent job in changing that storyline and if he can keep playing the way he has been, the Canucks have a chance at coming out of this six-game road trip as one of the North division’s top teams.

Boeser has what it takes to be a top sniper in the NHL and Vancouver needs him to be right now. With Boeser being a major part of a power play that features other elite talents like Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes, the sky is the limit on how many goals he can tally.

Maybe this is the year that Boeser finally breaks out and establishes himself as that elite top-level goalscorer he’s always been so close to becoming. If he keeps doing what he’s doing, it’s only a matter of time. For now, Boeser will just have to take it one game at a time.
