The Vancouver Canucks landed at the 245th spot on the FanSided 250 list, but is this the right placement for the team?

The Vancouver Canucks came in 245th place on the FanSided 250 rankings this year, which is an annual list compiled by editors through voting on what they believe to be the world’s most popular fandoms in both sports and entertainment.

Fans should be honoured that the team made the list, since it includes everything from individual musicians such as Taylor Swift to video games like Minecraft and even “Baby Yoda” from The Mandalorian.

However, Vancouver only managed to come in 19th among stNHL clubs, which seems awfully low given that they’re a Canadian team that has one of the brightest young cores in the entire league.

It’s justifiable that teams who made deep playoff runs such as the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning would come out ahead, or bigger markets like the Toronto Maples Leafs and New York Rangers.

But the Nashville Predators or New Jersey Devils? I can’t see the logic behind those picks. The Devils didn’t even make the playoffs while the Predators were surprisingly upset by a lacklustre Arizona Coyotes squad. Meanwhile, Vancouver shocked everyone by advancing to the second round and was mere minutes away from potentially going to the conference finals.

Moreover, the team has some of the brightest young stars in the game who made headlines throughout the entire season, so it seems odd that they would be placed below organizations who either missed the playoffs or don’t have as many noteworthy players on their rosters.

The strangest thing might actually have been the Montreal Canadiens being ranked even lower than the Canucks at 20th, even though they arguably have the most rabid fanbase in the entire league.

The list was definitely strange, to say the least, but it’s still an interesting project to check out!
