Vancouver Canucks fans need to ignore the Brock Boeser rumours, looming cap crunch and drama. Just enjoy the ride when they return to play.

If all goes according to the NHL’s plan, the Vancouver Canucks will resume their 2019-20 season in a best-of-five qualifying round showdown with the Minnesota Wild.

Game 1 of the series is scheduled for Aug. 2 in the hub city of Edmonton, Alberta. The winner of the series will advance to the round of 16, while the loser will enter the draft lottery for a chance at the first overall pick.

Canuck fans should be looking forward to the return to play. Instead, a large portion of this fan base has been caught up with the trade rumours surrounding Brock Boeser (which general manager Jim Benning shut down) and the looming salary cap crunch.

Those who are active on Canucks Twitter certainly saw the countless heated arguments regarding Boeser, Benning and the salary cap woes. There’s no problem with being passionate about your team, but what’s the point of arguing about all of this now?

Boeser isn’t getting traded. Simple as that.

The salary cap is a problem. Let’s wait until November to worry about that. The offseason hasn’t started. Benning can’t do anything right now.

Folks, the Canucks are entering the postseason for the first time in five years. Isn’t it more exciting to cheer for a shot at the Stanley Cup, rather than look forward to the draft lottery, where the Canucks have been screwed time and time again?

The Canucks have a very winnable series here against Minnesota. Who says they can’t pull off a potential upset in the first round, either? Captain Bo Horvat has confidence in his team’s ability to go on a run here. And so should you.

In conclusion: Ignore the Boeser drama and stop worrying about the salary cap situation. No matter how you feel about Benning and the work of the front office, just be happy where the team is right now.

The Canucks have a chance to capture the Stanley Cup, so there’s no excuse to not enjoy the ride, regardless of what happens in the playoffs.
