We asked and you answered. The Twitter results are in and rookie All-Star, Quinn Hughes was voted the most exciting player on the Vancouver Canucks this year!

In a magical world where the NHL was never placed on pause, the Vancouver Canucks right now would be set to play in their final five games of the regular season and the fans would be that much closer to witnessing what was supposed to be the Canucks’ first playoff appearance in five long years.

Reality sets in and the real situation is the lockdown is still in effect NHL wide and it doesn’t appear to be coming back anytime soon. The Site Expert’s of The Canuck Way decided they wanted to hear back from all of the Canucks’ biggest fans on Twitter and hear what everyone has to say about, “Who was the most exciting player to watch in the 2019-20 campaign?”

People had high expectations for Elias Pettersson to do well once again as he skated away with a landslide victory vote last year and pretty much single-handedly got the Canucks’ organization to do a 180 in terms of internal growth. J.T. Miller completely took over this team in his first season as a Canuck and was the most consistent point producer, while all season long it felt like Jacob Markstrom stopped the world! But you can’t sleep on Quinn Hughes! The rookie defender from Orlando, Florida is a power play quarterbacking specialist who was well on his way to 60+ points.

Without these four heroic members of Vancouver, the Canucks didn’t stand a chance this season. Every time these four were out there they made magic happen. The Canuck Way award could have honestly been rewarded to any of these rocks, but the people of Twitter have spoken and the results are in! Here are the results.

Despite all the incredible talent and all the jaw-dropping plays all four of these players dished out this season so far, it’s hard to imagine the rookie Hughes not getting the award. The kid was an absolute steal of a deal in the draft, he breathed excellence, believed in himself more than anyone else. Because of it, he’s the Canucks’ most exciting player to watch, and he will be the most exciting player in Vancouver for years to come!

Where to begin for the Canucks’ best blueliner? In 68 games of action, Hughes put up 53 points, (8 goals, 45 assists) and was only a couple points behind the team record for points by a rookie defender. The record could have and would have most likely been shattered in the games remaining, but regardless, in a completely different era of hockey, Hughes obviously stunned the hockey world.

His 25 power play tallies were enough for a tie in the team lead for man-advantage points. His elite-level quarterbacking skills are already as good as the best of them. Being a franchise piece to any organization takes a lot more than a single season of play, but with only 73 games of NHL experience, Hughes is above and beyond any defender who was ever dawned Canucks’ colours.

When all was said and done, the rookie finished tied for fourth in scoring amongst all NHL blueliners and was only two points back of former Norris Trophy winner, Victor Hedman. Simply put, it was an incredible feat for the stud, but for him, it’s just another day.

In a season full of accomplishments, he also followed his fellow teammates Pettersson and Brock Boeser to the All-Star Game as the third consecutive Canucks’ rookie to do so. Just another bigtime move by a bigtime player. But trust me, it’s only the beginning! Hughes has only just arrived. What comes next? Just wait and see.
