The Vancouver Canucks fell 4-0 to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night in the final game of their road trip. Here’s what we learned.

With nine wins in their previous 11 contests, the Vancouver Canucks entered Tuesday’s game with a chance to leapfrog the standings and land firmly in the Pacific Division’s number one spot.

Vancouver had seven straight wins when they hit the road and headed east. They dropped two games back-to-back in the state of Florida before cleaning things up with wins against the Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild.

Back on track, this once disastrous looking road trip managed to be straightened out and with any luck. Jacob Markstrom and the Canucks would walk out of the Bell MTS Place having completed the five-game swing with more wins than losses.

Despite the Jet’s holding an unattractive record of 3-5-2 in their last 10 games, earning two points on the road wasn’t going to be easy. Before puck drop, Vancouver had lost eight in a row in Winnipeg. Would first place in the division be enough motivation for Vancouver to find a way to win? Unfortunately not.

Here are two takeaways from Tuesday’s game.
