Welcome to the fourth consecutive installment of Vancouver Canucks Monthly!  Let’s dive into the holiday month in which the Canucks scored an 8-5 record.

The Vancouver Canucks have successfully completed all scheduled games in 2019, finishing off the decade in style,.

They march into the New Year sporting a season-high, five-game winning streak. Led by Swedish sensation Elias Pettersson, the Canucks turned around a disastrous November, built some consistency in December and with a lot of hard work from top to bottom, managed to move up to the second seed in the Pacific Division, before turning the page over to the new decade.

Finding ways to win in 2020 will only get more difficult for the Canucks. The Pacific is still very much wide open, and it should be a scrappy dog fight between bubble teams all the way up to the final bouts of the regular season.

At the end of the day, every point matters. If it’s the final game to determine the postseason, or if it’s a winning streak in December, two points are still two points. The Canucks managed to grab a sweet 16 points in December and those very important tallies came from all different angles of this year’s team.

Nonetheless, the Canucks have some hills to climb in order to make a case this year and earn a playoff spot. Luckily, the dragon slayer himself, Alex Burrows popped into Vancouver as he celebrated an induction into the Canucks Ring of Honor. On Dec. 3, his speech alone sparked a fire in the hearts of the Canucks, who have been a completely different team ever since.

A lot happened in the month of December. First, they lost a handful of games and had fans thinking this team was a bust. Next thing you know, Jacob Markstrom is standing on his head, Pettersson is collecting game-winners and the team is racking up the wins again.

It was a bit of an up and down month, but at the end of it all, there were more positives than negatives. Let’s take a look at how December went down.
