Budweiser, in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks, have named BC native CJ Zizzari their Chief Hockey Officer. Here’s how it happened and what Zizzari’s new role entails.

When Budweiser announced in September that they would be hiring Canada’s biggest hockey fan for the “best job you can name”, the Chief Hockey Officer, thousands of passionate hockey fans began sending in their applications. This included many Vancouver Canucks fans.

This job was described as the opportunity of a lifetime for one lucky fan whose job would literally be to cheer on their favourite team, both on the road at home, and get paid to do it. That winner is a BC native, named CJ Zizzari. Paul Bissonnette said that Zizzari’s application and video that he submitted alongside it stood out and that both he and Budweiser loved the energy CJ brought.

Zizzari, alongside Canucks legend Darcy Rota and current player Antoine Roussel, accepted the honour and gave an inside look at his new “office” inside the Chief Hockey Officer truck.

“It’s awesome because it’s a family of hockey fans, Canucks fans, really,” Zizzari said, when talking about sharing the news of his exciting new job with his parents. “My dad has all the VHS’ of the ’94 Stanley Cup run in a closet at the house, and we pull out the old VCR and watch them every once in a while.”

Zizzari explained further what his new role will entail:

"As Chief Hockey Officer, basically my role is to be watching every Canucks game that I can, every Canucks game of the season, and really, I get to bring this awesome thing that Budweiser has given me to everybody through my social media, my Instagram, through my Youtube, and I get to share this amazing experience with everybody. -CJ Zizzari"

Zizzari will also be doing giveaways throughout the season, and trying to be a “Chief Hockey Officer of the people” as he put it. On top of that, Zizzari gets to bring his friends to watch the games with him! What more could you ask for from a job?

This truly does sound like the best job you can name, watching your favourite team play the best game you can name! You can check out Zizzari’s Youtube channel here.
