5 Vancouver Canucks from the past decade you probably forgot about Part 2
By Joshua Rey
5. Jack Skille, RW
Jack Skille was drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2005. After a decent college career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Skille struggled to find a spot on Chicago’s roster. He alternated time between the NHL and AHL during his tenure with the organization.
On Feb. 9, 2011, during his first full season with the Blackhawks, Skille was sent to the Florida Panthers along with Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan for Michael Frolik and Alexander Salak.
In the summer of 2013, Skille signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets where he split time between the club and the Springfield Falcons. Skille signed with the New York Islanders the following season, but he was claimed off waivers by the Jackets in October. In 45 games, Skille had six goals and two assists.
Skille played the 2015-16 with the Colorado Avalanche. Before the 2016-17 campaign, he was given a professional try-out with the Canucks. A month later, Skille was named to the 23-man roster. In 55 games with the Canucks, he had five goals and four assists. Skille’s time with the Canucks was probably his final dance in the NHL.
The following season, he signed with HC Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, and a year later, he suited up for Genève-Servette HC of the National League — tallying five goals and five assists in 23 games.
