Vancouver Canucks new jerseys have apparently leaked
The Vancouver Canucks new jersey design has apparently leaked online. There are two major changes, one in which most Canucks fans have been wanting for quite some time.
The Vancouver Canucks will have a different look to them next year. Not only will they almost certainly be a better team than they were this past season, but they will be donning some new threads too. This makes sense, as jerseys were almost 60% off on the Canucks Team Store May long weekend sale just a couple of weeks ago.
This from Daily Hive Vancouver’s Rob Williams:
The Vancouver Canucks are making some subtle but impactful tweaks to their home and away jerseys. We got our first look at the new Canucks jersey redesign today, after a leaked photo was posted to Reddit. That image has since been confirmed to be legitimate by Chris Creamer from SportsLogos.net, who is an authority on the subject.
Here is the photo of the jerseys that Williams is referring to.
The jersey keeps the same logo of the Orca, which I personally don’t hate as much as other people do. That being said, I have always liked the idea of Johnny Canuck being the main logo, particularly the alternate logo used on the old Reebok stick in rink alternates that the Canucks used to wear.
Speaking of the stick in rink logo, the team has changed that logo around too! On the shoulder patches, it appears that the team will be going back to the white base stick in rink logo, which was seen in the first renditions of the logo. On more recent jerseys, the logo had a blue base, but by the looks of these photos, it appears the logo will be returning to its roots with the white.
We can look forward to an official reveal of the new logo shortly before the draft, with the Canucks first-round pick presumably being the first to wear the new jersey, similar to what the Edmonton Oilers did with Connor McDavid in 2015 when they made the switch to their orange base jerseys.
What do you think of these apparent new jerseys Canucks fans? Let me know in the comments below. Personally, I’m happy to see the Vancouver lettering gone, but it would have been nice to see a few more changes. Who knows, maybe more jersey news will be on the way soon!
