Vancouver Canucks 2017 development camp roster revealed

Vancouver Canucks fans will not have to wait long to see their newest top prospects in action.

The Vancouver Canucks revealed their 2017 development camp roster on Tuesday. The roster includes 36 players consisting of 21 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goaltenders.

A breakdown of the roster

  • TWO players have NHL experience (Brock Boeser, Griffen Molino)
  • THREE first round picks from the NHL Entry Draft
  • ALL EIGHT players drafted by the Canucks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft
  • 14 Invites, consisting of…
  • FIVE invites from the NCAA (most of any league)
  • THREE invites from the OHL
  • TWO invites from the BCHL
  • ONE invite each from the OJHL, QMJHL, WHL, CIS and SHL

  • 6-foot-4, the height of the tallest player, Zack MacEwan
  • 212 pounds, the weight of the heaviest player, Zack MacEwan
  • 5-foot-7, the height of the shortest player, Petrus Palmu
  • 161 pounds, the weight of the lightest player, Elias Pettersson
  • 25 years, the age of the oldest player, Justin Parizek
  • 17 years, the age of the youngest player, Nick Isaacson

The Canucks will be holding the event at the University of British Columbia. It has been held the past few years at Shawinigan Lake on Vancouver Island.

The players will participate in on-ice training and visit the BC Children’s Hospital from July 4th to July 6th. The camp will conclude with a “Canucks Summer Showdown Top Prospects Game” at Rogers Arena on July 6th.

Though the prospects game is a season ticket holder event, the Canucks will stream the game live on their Facebook page.
