The Vancouver Canucks will try to leave with a win as they visit Joe Louis Arena for the last time

The Vancouver Canucks pulled off a surprise win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Henrik Sedin busted a slump while Alexandre Burrows and Sven Baertschi each scored their first goals of the season.

That win ended a nine-game losing skid, and they’d like to end this road trip with a win against the Detroit Red Wings, who ended a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

Something’s gotta give in this matchup. One team will win its second-straight while the other club’s slump will continue.

WHO’’S ON OFFENCE:

More from The Canuck Way

Gustav Nyquist: He’s been off to a slow start, but Nyquist is the top scorer on a struggling Red Wings offense. His speed and skills with the puck will provide challenges for the Canucks.

Henrik Zetterberg: Always someone who seems to give the Canucks troubles, Zetterberg has just one assist in his last five games. Perhaps this is the day he breaks the slump.

WHO’’S ON DEFENCE:

Mike Green: The Wings’ leading scorer isn’t the 2008-09 player who scored 31 goals, but he remains a force with the puck at both ends of the ice.

WHO’’S IN NET:

Jimmy Howard:  Though he’s lost the starting job to Petr Mrazek the last two seasons, Howard’s outperformed him with a 3-2 record and 1.26 goals against average.

Away Team

OVERVIEW:

2016-17 Record: 5-8-1

Away Record: 15-1

2015-16 Record vs. Red Wings: 1-0-1

Goals For: 27

Goals Against: 41

Power Play: 9.3 (29th)

Penalty Kill: 85% (9th)

Leading Scorers: Henrik Sedin (14GP –– 5G –3–A –– 8PTS), Daniel Sedin (14GP –– 4G –– 3A –– 7PTS), Bo Horvat(14GP — – 4G –3– A –– 7PTS).

Injuries: Alexander Edler (upper-body, day-to-day.) Chris Tanev (lower body, day-to-day), Anton Rodin (knee, day-to-day), Jayson Megna (week-to-week).

WHO’’S ON OFFENCE:

Henrik Sedin: He’s scored three points in his last two games, scoring a clutch goal in Tuesday’s win.

Bo Horvat: Tied for second in team scoring, Horvat brings plenty of speed and energy to the Canucks, as he pushes to be the number one centre down the road.

WHO’’S ON DEFENCE:

Erik Gudbranson: Edler and Tanev are banged up, meaning Gudbranson holds the key to lead the inconsistnet blue line.

WHO’’S IN NET:

Ryan Miller: He hasn’t had much support in front of him, but Miller has just one win in seven starts with a porous 2.76 goals against average.
