October 16, 2016: Canucks vs. Carolina Hurricanes
After their home opener, the Canucks are back in action the following night versus the Carolina Hurricanes.
In their first game this season, the Canes blew a 4-1 lead in the third to lose to the Winnipeg Jets 5-4 in overtime. They will be coming off two days’ rest, so it’s likely Carolina will go back to Cam Ward rather than former Canuck Eddie Lack.
This game also starts at 7 PM PST.
Ben:
2. 109. 3. 104. Final
After being absent from the scoresheet in game one, the Sedin-Eriksson line connects for two goals. Horvat scores the winner.
Janik:
109. 4. 104. Final. 2
The Tre Kronor line combines for four goals and makes it two straight wins for Vancouver – this is likely the longest streak of the year.
Gerald:
109. 2. 104. Final. 3
After winning on Saturday, the Canucks will lose on Sunday to Eddie Lack, 3-2 in a shootout. Because that would be poetic and appropriate.
Jeff:
1. 109. 3. 104. Final
Baertschi, Horvat, and Virtanen combine for two goals. Sutter adds his first of the season.
Next: Canucks Roundtable: Opening-Day Roster Debate
The last time the Canucks played a real game in Rogers Arena was April 9th. They squeaked out a 4-3 overtime win versus the Edmonton Oilers. That is far too long a gap.
Let the Vancouver Canucks’ season begin!
