The NHL Entry Draft is less than 50 days away for the Vancouver Canucks, and here at The Canuck Way, we have the weekly NHL Mock Draft for you.

Now is the time for the NHL Mock Drafts. The Draft Lottery is now in the rear-view mirror and the final consensus rankings are coming out from all over the NHL scouting world. With the dust settling after a storied lottery for the Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver knows better what to expect at the draft. Or do they really? With the Edmonton Oilers holding up their fourth-overall pick high and mighty a trade bait, nothing is set in stone until the Canucks hit the podium.

But nothing will hold us back from our second Mock Draft of the first 30 picks of the Entry Draft that is set to go on for two days, starting on June 24th, 2016. If anything, the uncertainty of it all breeds the need for a mock draft.

As a result of the regular season standings and the Stanley Cup Playoffs to date, here is the draft order set for the first round of this year’s entry draft. For the three matchups that have yet to be decided, the regular season record was used to select the winners.

For the Detroit Red Wings who are facing the retirement or the return to Russia of franchise centerman Pavel Datsyuk, scoring help could be on the way with the selection of Max Jones of the London Knights. Jones should nicely fill in for the coming retirement of Henrik Zetterberg, as well.

Give me the numbers, the rumours, and anything Vancouver Canucks, and I will rant about it in the most analytical way. I might not be from the West Coast Express days of old, but I breathe Canuck blue-and-green living in Burnaby. Optimism wins the day.
