<p>Canucks general manager Mike Gillis revealed the news to TSN&#8217;s Farhan Lalji on Monday just prior to the game against the San Jose Sharks.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Gillis re Kesler, &#8220;we expect Ryan to skate today&#8230; expect him to play within a week&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23canucks">#canucks</a></p>
<p>— Farhan Lalji (@FarhanLaljiTSN) <a href="https://twitter.com/FarhanLaljiTSN/status/318823465216012288">April 1, 2013</a></p></blockquote>
<p>His imminent return will ease the pressure to acquire a top-six centre at the trade deadline and will not force the Canucks to overpay for a rental centre like the Dallas Stars&#8217; <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/royde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Derek Roy</a></strong> and Washington Capitals&#8217; <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/ribeimi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Mike Ribeiro</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Kesler broke his foot at the end of February and his recovery was pegged at four-to-six weeks. It appears he is on schedule for a return at six weeks.</p>
