<h2> <strong>CURRENTLY SIGNED</strong></h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Kevin Bieksa</h3>
<h3><em style="font-size: 1em;">current status: Signed through to 2016 with full NTC</em></h3>
<h4><em>#3 D | 6&#8217;1&#8243;, 198 lbs. | Age: 34</em></h4>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/109/files/2013/05/bieksa-2013-stats.png"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-3040" title="bieksa 2013 stats" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/109/files/2013/05/bieksa-2013-stats.png" alt="" width="210" height="37" /></a></div>
<div>Bieksa is the Canucks go-to player for that Canadian style, in-your-face grit and leadership on a nightly basis.  On most nights he brings it with sound positional play and the occasional &#8220;Gordie Howe&#8221; hattrick, but he has nights when he looks lost on the ice as well.  His play is always noticeable on the ice whether for mishaps or the more usual big defensive play or timely goal.  Well liked, and well respected, Bieksa is about as unmovable a Canuck you&#8217;ll find on this roster.  As he ages, the Canucks will have to find him younger, more durable players to surround him with, as he is prone to injuries nowadays.</div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Vancouver Canucks and defenceman <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/t/tanevch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Chris Tanev</a></strong> are expected to begin negotiations on a contract extension soon, according to News 1130 Sports.</p>
<p>Tanev is set to become a restricted free agent on July 5 (granted the Canucks issue him a qualifying offer of $850,500 to retain his rights). He will be looking for a raise from the $900,000 he earned over the course of his three-year entry-level contract.</p>
<p>The Canucks will want to have him locked up long-term before that as <a href="http://www.faceoff.com/sports/hockey/canucks-hockey/Vancouver+Canucks+defenceman+Chris+Tanev+come/8390209/story.html" target="_blank">he could be a prime candidate for an offersheet</a> with the shrinking salary cap next season. A team could offer a average annual salary of $3.36 million and if the Canucks don&#8217;t match, they will be only receiving a second round pick in compensation.</p>
<p>Fans can probably expect a multi-year contract in the ballpark of $2.5 million per season.</p>
<p>He will represent himself in negotiations with the help of his father, <strong>Mike Tanev</strong>. Mike says he contacted the Canucks last week and hopes to begin negotiations soon. No money figure has been thrown around yet, but he says he knows the market and has a number in mind.</p>
<p>Chris will be working with former NHLer turned fitness guru <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/roberga01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Gary Roberts</a></strong> for the third consecutive summer. He will be focussing on gaining strength.</p>

<p>The Vancouver Canucks will have rookie defenceman <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/c/corrafr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Frank Corrado</a></strong> in the lineup, but won&#8217;t have <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/t/tanevch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Chris Tanev</a></strong> when they start the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs next Tuesday or Wednesday.</p>
<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s [Corrado] going to play in the playoffs,&#8221; Canucks associate coach <strong>Rick Bowness </strong>revealed when <a href="http://www.teamradio.ca/news/chris-higgins-on-team1040/" target="_blank">making an appearance on the TEAM 1040</a>.</p>
<p>Tanev, on the other hand, will not be ready for Game 1. Bowness says he is &#8220;very, very, very doubtful.&#8221;</p>
<p>At practice on Friday, Corrado was paired with <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/a/alberan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Andrew Alberts</a></strong> and it looks like the two will be the team&#8217;s third pairing when the playoffs start—or at the very least Saturday night against the Edmonton Oilers.</p>
<p>The top-three forward lines remained the same and winger <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/sestito01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Tom Sestito</a></strong> replaced defenceman <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/ballake01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Keith Ballard</a></strong> on the fourth line. Ballard returned to defence and paired with <strong><a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/j/joslide01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-thecanuckway.com" target="_blank">Derek Joslin</a></strong>.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Nux lines at practice: 22-33-14; 20-15-17; 21-40-36; 29-25-9; (18-32-13). D pairings: 2-5; 23-3; 41-26; 4-38. <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23butwhowillplayvsoil">#butwhowillplayvsoil</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23canucks">#canucks</a></p>
<p>— Elliott Pap (@ElliottPap) <a href="https://twitter.com/ElliottPap/status/327860993495552001">April 26, 2013</a></p></blockquote>
<p>Since Corrado was 19 years old before December 31 this season and on an entry-level contract, he can play in three more games (regular season or playoffs) before the first year of his contract is burned.</p>
<p>There are no implications from this aside from having to give the player a raise quicker. Corrado is not headed to unrestricted free agency any quicker by burning a year of his entry-level contract either.</p>
