I have been a Canuck fan for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately at only 20 years old I missed the magical 1994 Stanley Cup run and the entertaining Pavel Bure. Bad timing. I am currently in College studying Kinesiology and creative writing. To avoid potential stalkers I will not go into further detail.
Everybody has a second team they secretly like, and mine happens to be the Edmonton Oilers. I know, weird right? Thankfully I have yet to witness a Canuck/Oilers match up in the playoffs. But thanks to the new conference realignment chances of them meeting are a lot more likely. When the time comes, I’m sure my heart will call for Vancouver. Home team first!
Favorite Player: Ryan Kesler / Ryan Smyth
Favorite Goalie: Marty Turco
Most Memorable Canuck Moment: When I witnessed Alex Burrows scoring in overtime of game 7 Round 1 against the Chicago Blackhawks. The rush of adrenaline during that moment was absolutely astounding. From jumping, screaming, cheering, high-fiving, tearing, and hugging everyone around – it was unforgettable.
Also, Ed Jovanovski’s reaction in the penalty box when Matt Cooke tied the game with 1.2 seconds left (vs. Flames 2004 game 7). It makes me smile every time, pure beauty.
Team Luongo or Team Schneider? Both are fantastic, but right now I will stick with LUOOOOO!
