The Vancouver Canucks will be having their 50th anniversary season next year. It’s also been rumoured that the Canucks may get some changes to their primary jerseys as well.

The Vancouver Canucks have been quite known for their jerseys. They have went from the stick in the rink to the “flying V” to the flying skate to the orca.

With the franchise’s 50th anniversary season coming up, it has been confirmed the Canucks will play with four jerseys. The throwback skate jersey has been confirmed as well as a new alternate. We could also be seeing changes to the primary sweaters as well.

Thoughts on the new third jersey

I’m eager to see what design the new third jersey will have. The last third jersey was the stick in the rink with blue and green. I also love the salmon third jersey worn in the late ’90s and the orca with the red colouring worn from 2003-2006.

I think the Canucks should try something new for the third jersey. The logo should consist of Johnny Canuck, and he should appear on the main crest. It’s the 50th anniversary. Put him front and centre.

As for the design, I think the third jersey should be green with blue stripes. It should be like the Uitca Comets third jersey.  Green is a nice colour and it works well with the blue stripes. As for the shoulder patch the stick in the rink logo can be put there or even the orca logo.

More from The Canuck Way

Green third jerseys would be a great way to kick off the 50th anniversary season and a new era.  However, it’d be best if the Canucks make the skate jersey the main alternate. At least they are bringing it back as a throwback jersey.

Rumoured home and away jerseys?

According to icethetics.com, the Canucks are expected to get new primary sweaters for next season. However, this doesn’t mean a drastic change. It could even a minor tweak like fixing the collar for example.

Icethetics wrote this on their website on their jersey watch section:

"“After the Blackhawks, the other big surprise from the Adidas catalog was seeing new primary sweaters listed for the Canucks in 2019-20! It’s unclear whether the Canucks are working on sweeping changes or maybe just updating the crest to remove the superfluous “Vancouver” arched across the top. But I also wouldn’t be that shocked to see a new primary logo to coincide with the 50th anniversary.”"

Personally, I think the current look is fine. The orca logo with blue and green are the best Canucks jerseys. The blue and green combination work really well and it represents the west coast well. The orca is a great representation of not just the city but our province as well. The jersey is quintessential west coast.

If the Canucks are just making a minor change to their jerseys, they can probably get rid of the “Vancouver” woodmark. It doesn’t need to be there.

Next. Vancouver Canucks: Jim Benning must get busy in offseason trade market. dark

It has been over a decade now since the blue and green jerseys were introduced and they are the longest running jerseys. New and fresh threads would be work, too.
