Vancouver Canucks centre Shawn Matthias says he requested a trade from the Florida Panthers because he was unhappy with how ice time was distributed.
Matthias wanted a trade for awhile says you earn ice time in Vancouver but in Fla. they gave it to players. #flapanthers

Was it a comment directed at current Panthers head coach Peter Horachek, and former coaches Kevin Dineen and Peter DeBoer?
Probably not. Matthias was likely expressing frustration playing on a younger team like the Panthers where a greater emphasis is placed on development than performance.
Matthias has averaged 17:07 a game through five games with the Canucks. In 59 games with the Panthers this season, he averaged only 12:07 a game, which put him 28th on the team.
