There won’t be an alumni game at the 2014 NHL Heritage Classic between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators, according to the TEAM 1040’s Jeff Paterson.
The 2011 Heritage Classic game between Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens featured an alumni game, an AHL game between the two team’s minor league affiliates (the Oklahoma City Barons and Abbotsford Heat), and a WHL game between the Calgary Hitmen and Regina Pats.
Alumni games have been staples of the NHL Winter Classic and Heritage Classic, but it won’t be happening at BC Place “due to tight timelines.”
@ewales no alumni game. No other games of any kind (junior/university/minor hockey) at BC Place due to tight timelines.

According to BC Place’s events calendar, the BC Home and Garden Show 2014 is being held there between February 19th and 23rd with move out on the 24th.
Setup for the March 2nd Heritage Classic will last five days between February 25th and March 1st. Move out will happen between March 3rd and 5th.
A conversion to a soccer field will happen on March 6 and 7th for a March 8th Major League Soccer game between the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and New York Red Bulls.
This leaves no time for any other events to be held at the BC Place rink.
No alumni game, but there will be a reunion of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals team at the Heritage Classic.
The NHL and Vancouver Canucks will mark the 20th anniversary of the 1994 team’s memorable run and magical Playoff moments during the 1:00 p.m. PT Canucks vs. Ottawa Senators® game.
