Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo will backup in Team Canada’s quarterfinals matchup against Latvia on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. PST.
Canadian head coach Mike Babcock announced on Tuesday morning that Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price would be starter for that game.
“He’s the one playing,” Babcock is quoted as saying by the Canadian Press.
Carey Price is 5-1 with a 1.59 GAA & .937 SV% when playing in elimination games for #TeamCanada.

Many Canucks fans thoughts Luongo would be Canada’s starter after backstopping them to a gold medal in 2010. When Price started Canada’s final preliminary game against Finland, it was hoped Babcock would throw a curveball and put Luongo in for the quarterfinals.
Presumably, Price will be the starter for the rest of the tournament unless of injury.
