Alex Burrows, Alex Edler Nearing Return to Vancouver Canucks Lineup

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

It appears injured Vancouver Canucks players Alexandre Burrows and Alexander Edler are nearing a return to the lineup.

Both players joined the team for practice on Friday morning. Burrows rotated with Mike Santorelli on the top line with Daniel and Henrik Sedin, while Edler rotated in on defence.

After practice, head coach John Tortorella indicated both players have been cleared to practice, but not to play.

The fact that Burrows spent time skating with the Sedins seems to indicate he is very close to returning. The Canucks had two other extra forwards, so the coaching staff could have easily formed a fifth line for practice.

The Canucks currently have 21 players on their roster including goaltender Roberto Luongo, who hasn’t been placed on injured reserve. They won’t need to send anybody down to activate Burrows and Edler off injured reserve.

The team won’t be full strength when they take on St. Louis Friday night, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting Canucks vs Blues tickets here.
