No More “Movember” Mask for Vancouver Canucks Goaltender Roberto Luongo

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo was back to his usual mask when his team visited the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.

Luongo had debuted a special “Movember” mask for the month of November. A month-long  event where men grow mustaches to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues.

“It’s for Movember, so I am going to be auctioning it off the end of month,” Luongo said, joking that the moustache on the mask saves him from having to grow one himself.

The Senators game was the second-to-last game of November, but Luongo probably felt he had worn it long enough.

During the month of November, Luongo had compiled a record of 3-3-4 record with a .916 save percentage and 2.17 goals against average prior to their 5-2 win over the Senators.

His save percentage and goals against average aren”t bad and he’s played well throughout the month, but the Canucks managed only three wins in 11 games.

It looks like the switch worked as Luongo played superb against the Senators making several key stops en route to 39-save win.
