Vancouver Canucks prospect Darren Archibald is a bit of a YouTube sensation now.
Archibald, playing with the Utica Comets, absolutely steamrolled Lake Erie Monsters defenceman Karl Stollery with a huge open-ice hit.
Stollery took the puck from goaltender Sami Aittokallio at the side of the Monsters goal. Just as he was looking to make a play with the puck, Archibald sent him onto the ice spinning.
“Pelletier was putting pressure on the one D and they went D to D,” Archibald said. “Obviously, he didn’t see me coming in on the far side on the forecheck. It’s my job lay the body out there and it’s part of my game.”
Archibald has two goals and two assists in eight games with the Comets this season. He also played eight games with the Canucks in NHL registering two assists.
