The Utica Comets finally have their first-ever win in franchise history after going winless in their first ten games.

They picked up a 3-2 win over the Lake Erie Monsters, affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, on Friday night.

Monsters defenceman Mikael Tam opened the scoring in the first period before Alexandre Mallet and Patrick Mullen responded for the Comets to take a 2-1 lead after the first period of play.

Bryan Lerg scored for the Monsters in the second period to tie the game heading into the third.

Comets captain Colin Stuart fired a shot past Monsters goaltender Calvin Pickard with under three minutes to go to lift his team over the Monsters.

Joacim Eriksson was in net for the Comets and he picked up his first North American professional win. He improves to 1-6-1 on the season with a 3.47 goals against average and .886 save percentage.

Major stick-tap to the Comets!

Of note, Canucks winger David Booth played his second game with the Comets on his conditioning stint. He picked up his first point by assisting on Mullen’s goal. Booth attempted a shot in the slot, but it was blocked and Mullen swooped in for the rebound.
