Alexandre Burrows Returning to Vancouver Canucks Lineup on Monday

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It appears Vancouver Canucks winger Alexandre Burrows is ready to return to the lineup on Monday against the Washington Capitals.

The team re-assigned forward Pascal Pelletier to the Utica Comets on Saturday morning to pave the way for Burrows’s return.

Pelletier and fellow call-up Darren Archibald earned praise from head coach John Tortorella for their body of work on Friday against the St. Louis Blues.

“They played well, they gave us some good forechecking, didn’t hurt us defensively and tonight we had the mindset of getting everyone in the game,” Tortorella said. “We know how long the trip has been, the travel last night. And I thought the new guys came in and gave us some good shifts throughout the game.”

Burrows has missed the last 12 games with a foot injury stemming from a blocked a shot against the San Jose Sharks on opening night.

Some—including Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock—thought he would return against the Blues after the Canucks lost both David Booth and Dale Weise to injuries the previous game.

Burrows’s return will immediately give the Canucks forward group a much needed boost. It remains to seen if Tortorella will put Burrows back with Daniel and Henrik Sedin immediately
