John Tortorella Still Deciding on Vancouver Canucks Captains

Vancouver Canucks head coach John Tortorella says he hasn’t decided which players will be the team’s alternate (assistant) captains for the 2013-14 season.

Henrik Sedin will remain the captain of the team, but whether Daniel Sedin, Ryan Kesler, Kevin Bieksa will remain assistants is up in the air.

When Henrik was announced as captain in 2010, the Canucks also announced Daniel, Kesler, Bieksa, and Manny Malhotra as assistants. Daniel and Kesler wore the ‘A’ at home while Bieksa and Malhotra did it on the road.

The fourth assistant captain position was never filled after Malhotra was shut down last season, so Tortorella could just be alluding to that assistant captain position.

Candidates to be named include Alexandre Burrows, Dan Hamhuis, and Alexander Edler.
