Vancouver Canucks Send Down Frank Corrado, Make Final Cuts

It appears the Vancouver Canucks have made their final cuts of the preseason. Defenceman Frank Corrado has been re-assigned to the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.

Zach Hamill was also re-assigned to the Comets. 2012 first round pick Brendan Gaunce was return to his junior team, the Belleville Bulls.

Nicklas Jensen appears to have been cut from the team as well. His agent, Anton Thun, indicated to News 1130 Sports that his client was going down to the Comets. The team has not made an announcement. If Jensen is still injured, he will start the season on injured reserve.

With the demotions, it appears 2013 first round draft picks Hunter Shinkaruk and Bo Horvat will start the season with the Canucks. Both players will get the nine-game trial before a final decision will be made on whether they will be kept for the duration of the season or not. Once a 18 or 19 year old player plays their tenth game, a year of their entry-level contract kicks in.

The Canucks roster breaks down as 15 forwards, seven defencemen, and two goaltenders. Zack Kassian is suspended for the first five games of the regular season and Jordan Schroeder is out approximately three weeks, so that brings the number of forwards down to 13.
