Training camp opens on September 11 with players reporting for medicals and fitness testing. The players are expected to hit the ice the following day with new head coach John Tortorella to practice and learn the new system.
The last time camp was held in a different city was in 2010 when Penticton hosted. Training camp has been held in Vancouver and at Rogers Arena every year since.
About 40 players are expected to attend main camp.
In years past, the Canucks have filled their roster with camp invites to create two separate squads of approximately 20 players. There is no split-squad game on the preseason schedule, so we might see less players this camp.
Other than 1 session at UBC, #Canucks training camp will be held at Rogers Arena. Given all the travel they’ll do, makes sense to stay home.
