The Vancouver Canucks are apparently going to be hosting the New York Rangers in a preseason matchup in September, according to a tweet from the Vancouver Sun’s Iain MacIntyre.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see former Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault.
Words never before written: Can’t wait for pre-season game. Vigneault/Rangers visit Tortorella/Canucks in Sept during MSG renos.

It is rare to see preseason games scheduled between teams located in different time zones and geographic areas. In the past few years, the Canucks preseason schedule has featured contests against the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks.
The Rangers home arena, Madison Square Gardens, is undergoing Phase 3 of renovations that will close the building until the fall.
Last preseason, the Rangers had no home games and were due to play a game at the Staples Center against the Los Angeles Kings. The preseason and game did not happen due to the lockout.
The NHL is expected to announce the 2013-14 regular season and preseason schedules in July.
