Vancouver Canucks Re-Sign Tom Sestito to Two-Year Contract

The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed left winger Tom Sestito to a one-way, two-year contract worth $1.5 million. He announced the news on Twitter on Wednesday morning before the team confirmed the news through a press release.

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis talked about getting bigger, so it was unlikely they were going to let their biggest player get away. The size was the reason the team re-signed him and they want him to bring more to the lineup next season.

Sestito certainly has the tools to be more than a one-dimensional enforcer/goon. He scored 42 goals as a 19 year old in the Ontario Hockey League and showed last season he could provide some solid board work and wasn’t a liability in the defensive zone.

He won’t ever be the heavyweight champion of the NHL, but can hold is own. Sestito rose to the occasion to fight Mike Rupp, Ryan Reaves, Jordan Nolan, and Brian McGrattanwinning only against Nolan.
