Canucks’ Kevin Bieksa Calls Out Thornton and Couture for Embellishment

Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa called out both Joe Thornton and Logan Couture for embellishment with the Canucks down 3-0 in their first round series against the San Jose Sharks.

Bieksa’s frustration likely stems from a penalty call on Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis for slashing Thornton after the Sharks forward faked a slash to the hands. The video replay showed that if there was a slash, it was on Thornton’s right hand, but Thornton is seen shaking his left hand in pain.

In Game 2, with the score tied 1-1 in the third period, Bieksa was called for roughing Couture after he gave Couture a light bump after the whistle. Couture fell dramatically into the boards on the bump.
