Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin could make history on Wednesday when the Canucks host the Minnesota Wild by overtaking former captain Markus Naslund as the all-time franchise leader in points.

After picking up two assists in Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Calgary Flames, Sedin now has 755 points in 903 career games and is one point behind Naslund. He will need one point on Wednesday to tie or two to break the record.

“If it happens (Tuesday) it would be real nice,” Sedin told the Canadian Press. “It’s one of those things when you get the opportunity, it’s nice to get it done on home ice. We have three games to get it done.

“If you’re the franchise leader it has to mean something. It means you have played in the city for a long time and been fairly successful.”

His brother Daniel, has played 33 less career games and 728 career points. He is currently fourth on the all-time list behind Trevor Linden, who has 733 points. Daniel needs six more points to pass Linden and move into third all-time.

The Sedins have been over a point-a-game players since the 2005-06, so it is conceivable Henrik and Daniel will be number one and two in franchise scoring at the conclusion of the season.

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast nationally on TSN and on radio in Vancouver on the TEAM 1040. Remember to tune in.
