Vancouver Canucks: Reloaded

Jason Garrison, in this former player’s opinion, is the best fit we could have dreamed for the back end. He plays responsible defensively, has a huge shot from the point, big and strong, and not afraid to battle in the dirty areas.

The play of Zack Kassian has also been phenomenal—playing a dominating game like he did in junior with the Peterborough Petes and Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League.

Against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, Jordan Schroeder did not have a particularly strong game, but redeemed himself in the shootout with a goal on Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford through the five-hole.

In goal, the Canucks are blessed to have “problem” of two number one goaltenders. Luongo’s strong play will generate increased interest and boost his value on the open market. As long as the Canucks keep winning with him in net, his stock will continue to rise.

As a fan, I would love to see a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs for Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak in exchange for our beloved Bobby Lou.

Here’s hoping the Canucks will have a great season and go deep into the playoffs. Fans will just have to be patient while these Canucks find their groove for a deep playoff run.

The Canucks roster is exciting and boasts a ton of potential. When Ryan Kesler and David Booth both return from injury, the Canucks will be a force to recon with in the NHL. They will easily have the best team in the league night in and night out on the ice.

It was a very close game against the Blackhawks on Friday night, but the Canucks squeaked out a win showing depth, drive, and character as a team. The Canucks now have something to build on going forward.
