The home team came out with a jump on the Chicago Blackhawks. The opening frame was dominated by the Canucks—a little physical, but mostly just some good responsible hockey.

This was the best start in a long time for Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Roberto Luongo.

Thanks to a perfect pass from Zack Kassian, Alexander Edler opened the scoring.

Both teams looked a little tired in the second period. Luongo made a big glove save with 6:31 left in the stanza to preserve the 1 goal lead.

The Canucks penalty kill played great on a few bad penalties—or calls—including killing one with 1:11 left in overtime.

Canuck faithful let out a collective sigh of relief in the dreaded shootout. Jordan Shroeder scored after both goalies stopped their first 3 shooters respectively. Bobby Lou made a big glove save to salvage the win over one of the hottest teams in the Western Conference.

This game was only won due to Luongo’s great performance. This begs the question, what does Mike Gillis and the Canuck management do with 2 number 1 goalies? The only way to know is wait and see.

Is Roberto Luongo your number one goalie?
