Vancouver Canucks goaltender Cory Schneider spoke to News 1130 to explain his decision to sign in Switzerland with HC Ambrì-Piotta of the National League A.
“It’s hard to replicate a game situation in practice, and I could feel that my game wasn’t quite where I wanted it to be, if the season was going to start in a short amount of time,” Schneider told the radio station.
His contract will run from now to the end of December, at which point Schneider will be able to renew if the lockout enters the new year. Schneider, who has dual American and Swiss citizenship will not count towards the league’s rule of four foreigners.
Schneider is expected to make his debut this Saturday against the Kloten Flyers.
