Vancouver Canucks winger Jannik Hansen made his debut for Tappara of the SM-liiga (Finland) on Thursday and he put up a goal and added two assists en route to a 5-1 win.
Hansen scored his goal when he cashed in on a rebound in the slot off KalPa goaltender Mikko Koskinen.
“It went well,” Hansen told the Vancouver Sun. “We won so it was nice. I had a goal and two helpers. Why did I come? I didn’t want to sit at home anymore. I had enough of waiting for something to happen. I wanted to take it in my own hands and get going.”
He still has a long way from catching up to Dale Weise‘s offensive output in the Dutch league. Weise has 13 points in four games.
