We had mentioned earlier that Manny Malhotra was cleared to partake in contact practice and that he would be evaluated before a decision were to be made on his playing status for the Stanley Cup Finals.
Well, that time has come and Malhotra has been given the green light to play for the Canucks, as he’s been cleared to play for them during the Stanley Cup Finals against the Boston Bruins. Pretty unbelievable, don’t you think?
Ever since his March 16th eye injury all the focus was put on figuring out whether Malhotra would ever play again, and this season was considered a no-go. How wrong we were.
Malhotra said about his status: “Coming from where I was two months ago, making the statement the season was over, to potentially having a possibility to play in the Stanley Cup final is incredibility exciting for me.”
While Malhotra has been cleared to play, head coach Alain Vigneault hasn’t decided whether Malhotra will dress or not for the finals and said that Malhotra’s on a, “day-to-day basis.”
Whether he does suit or not is regardless. What matters the most is how far Malhotra has progressed and gotten better since the injury.
