If Vancouver Canuck fans were thinking their NHL western conference final series was going to be a sweep, the San Jose Sharks put the brooms into the closet Friday in San Jose after a 4-3 win. The series is now 2 wins to 1 for the Canucks.
Shark captain Joe Thornton led the way for the Sharks with three assists while assistant captain Patrick Marleau scored twice and added a helper. The Sharks outshot the Canucks 38-30, including a lop-sided 16-8 margin in the opening period when they jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
The Canucks got third period goals from Dan Hamhuis, Alexandre Burrows and Kevin Bieksa to make the game interesting. Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle notched the game winner at 6:46 of the final frame.
Game four of the series goes Sunday at 12 noon PDT in San Jose.
