Malhotra Feels Optimistic After Eye Injury

We told you that once we had some news on Manny Malhotra and his condition we’d pass it along.

What he have comes from the man himself. Malhotra seems to be thinking about his current situation as positively as he can and that’s a good thing. You can’t do anything about accidents or injuries. You can only just deal with them and that’s exactly what Malhotra’s doing.

In a statement released by the team on Wednesday on Malhotra’s behalf, Malhotra offered a very positive outlook by saying that, “although there is a lot of recovery and healing to take place, I am very optimistic for a good outcome.”

He went on to say that, “the past three weeks have been a very emotional time for myself and my family”, and that he owes a great deal of thanks to a number of people.”

After being hit in his left eye with a puck in the early part of March, Malhotra underwent two separate eye surgeries. To still be optimistic after undergoing two different surgeries, one just last week, goes to show how tough Malhotra is.

It doesn’t hurt to have a loving wife by your side during a harrowing time and Malhotra has just that in his wife Joann. Malhotra went out of his way to single her out and mention that she, “has been a pillar of strength for me and kept me focused on the best possible outcome at all times.”

Not only does Malhotra have his family to lean on but he’s got the fans’ support and, of course, the support from his other family, his teammates, coaches and everybody else associated with the Canucks from the management to the owners.

Malhotra acknowledged exactly that and mentioned how, “it is truly a blessing to be part of an organization with such quality, caring people and I can’t thank them enough.”

Of course, a classy guy like Malhotra wouldn’t forget to thank the fans during his recovery process and said that his, “most heartfelt and sincere thank you to all of the incredible fans in Vancouver and around the league for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Your messages were a daily reminder of what a privilege it is to play for you.”

It seems as this will be about it for a while in terms of news coming from the Canucks about Malhotra. The Canucks said that Malhotra won’t be providing any more comments or interviews for the foreseeable future.

Again, we here at The Canuck Way want to send out our wishes to Manny Malhotra on a speedy recovery.
